MRU 2012 Letter... just click on the box below to expand! The College Class of 2012 is off and running from MRU!!! Former Mad River United player, Bryar Brandvold, currently took a major step forward in his playing career! Bryar committed to Occidental College in Los Angeles! It is always great to have MRU players moving on and playing at the next level! Bryar attributes his success and love for the game to the great coaching he received while in Arcata, most notably John Davidson! JD was Bryar's coach from U11 through U14 while competing in the D1 playing league. Congrats to Bryar and JD, and good luck! MRU MRU U12G Johnson Finish Season with a Flurry!!! Arcata – After a long season it all came down to the final weekend of league play for MRU U12G's. Competing in a new league, the CCSL, Coach Dan Johnson was faced with new difficulties. The league was split into a North and South Division. Cruising through North Division Play, MRU finished 10-0-0 clinching first place. The next step was battling against the South Division. On Saturday, the girls faced off against Wesco at the Arcata Sports Complex and finished the game winning 3-0. This moved them onto the finals against a Petaluma team that also finished the regular season in first place in the South Division. The final game we a true battle. After going down 1-0 in the first half, MRU battled back to equalize early in the second half. The girls had multiple chance to go up 2-1 but great team defense by Petaluma held the score tied 1-1. With almost 7 minutes to go, MRU suffered terrible luck when it was called for a questionable PK. Petaluma converted the chance and went on to win the game 2-1. Although the girls finished in second place it by no means takes away from their great fall season! 11/14/11
